Townley Primary School – Healthy School Statement
At Townley Primary School, we are deeply committed to promoting the health, well‑being, and resilience of every child in our care. Our vision and values emphasise creating a safe, nurturing environment where children develop the knowledge, skills, and personal qualities they need to flourish now and in the future.
We believe that healthy, happy learners are successful learners. As part of this commitment, we prioritise students’ emotional, mental, and physical well‑being, supporting them to become confident, independent individuals. Our “Taking Care of You” approach highlights the importance of mindfulness, self‑awareness, balanced routines, physical activity, healthy eating, positive connections, and strategies for managing anxiety—principles we embed into daily school life and share with families.
Our school culture is built on the values of Honesty, Truth, and Respect, captured in our motto Probitas Verus Honos. These values shape our expectations, behaviour, and interactions and support the development of resilience, responsibility, and kindness. They also underpin our curriculum, which is designed to nurture curiosity, joy in learning, and lifelong healthy habits.
We provide an environment where children feel safe, listened to, and valued. Through strong pastoral systems—including restorative practices and therapeutic thinking—we ensure that pupils’ wellbeing needs are met and that they are supported in building positive relationships.
We also teach the importance of respecting oneself, the community, and the wider world. By fostering independence, self‑esteem, emotional resilience, and respect for diversity, we prepare our pupils for life in a rapidly changing society.
Through close partnerships with parents, carers, and the wider community, we continue to develop a holistic, inclusive, and aspirational approach to health and well‑being. Together, we cultivate a school culture where every child can grow, thrive, and reach their full potential—academically, socially, and personally.
