Welcome to the Dragonflies, where we commit to providing a safe, supportive and nurturing environment for our children.
The Dragonflies day runs at slightly different times from the rest of the school, as children follow Temporary Reduced Timetables until they are settled into their school routine.
For those who arrive by taxi, our dedicated Dragonflies staff will meet and greet them daily, providing support as they transition from the taxi to the classroom. At the end of the school day, the staff will ensure each child is safely boarded on their transport home.
During lunchtimes, children have the option to partake in small group lunchtimes, supervised by Dragonflies staff. Alternatively, they are welcome to join their peers during breaks and lunches, provided it is safe and they feel comfortable doing so.
In terms of learning and lessons, Mrs Steer tailors plans for each child accessing the resource base, drawing from individual targets outlined in their Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and the mainstream National Curriculum where appropriate. We prioritise supporting children at their individual pace, enabling them to engage with their classmates whenever they feel happy and secure.
Our focus in Dragonflies extends to Personal, Social, and Emotional Development, incorporating additional PSHE lessons that utilise our evolving forest area and kitchen facilities. Should children feel overwhelmed, a variety of strategies are at their disposal to meet their sensory needs, including dedicated individual work stations designed to minimise distractions, complemented by group work tables as required.
