Our new learning focus in science for the autumn term is:
- Seasonal changes, including weather
- Plants, including trees
We will teach the children the essential substantive and disciplinary knowledge that is needed to understand these topics, alongside the skills of working and thinking scientifically, for a rich and deep understanding.
An overview of the main objectives for working scientifically:
- asking simple questions and recognising that they can be answered in different ways
- observing closely, using simple equipment
- performing simple tests
- identifying and classifying
- using their observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions, and gathering and recording data to help in answering questions
